Goodies

Yes I did bring back some goodies! My daughter and I visited a couple of quilt and antique shops. The first place was Thistle Bee Quilt Shoppe in Goldsboro, NC. It is a great little cottage full of wonderful fabrics and quilts. You can find her online at www.thistlebeequiltshoppe.com

I got some great fabrics for my dolls and for another project I am working on.

I am in love with the green, black and cream fabric. The quilt thread is YLI. It comes in great colors

We went to Lone Star Mercantile's grand opening in Fuquay-Varina.
I had been visiting Lisa's shop at the fair grounds in Raleigh whenever I drove through the area, but I really like the new place in Fuquay. She had it decorated so nice!

Some nice fat quarters to add to my stash and of course some wool.

I can't wait till next time to see how she continues to fix up the house. The inside was lovely and full of fabrics, wool and antiques/collectables.

I acquired a few new things at a couple of Antique malls. I admit it - I am a bowl-aholic.
Don't know what it is but I just love bowls. I have been collecting yellow ware bowls for many years.

This was a set of four Watt's stoneware bowls in great condition. They reminded me of a bowl my grandmother used to have but my mother broke before giving it to me.

I think they look great on my wrought iron rack but need two more for the top and bottom. Maybe I can find a solid green for that?

Also got a couple more yellow ware bowls. The one on the left cost $7.20 and the little blue bowl was $1.98!!

This is on our stairway landing. I bought the cobbler's shoe rack many, many years ago for very little. It has always held my bowls. Beside the rack is my treasured firkins.
The mustard one is Shaker made!

The rack is full!
Pog says we are running out of shelf space and room! I don't think that is going to stop me from picking up more goodies when I find them at reasonable prices!

From The Mountains to the Coast

Mt. Mitchell

And back again. I have been away this week for a much needed rest and time with my daughter. We did some fun things, and I rested my “mind” from all I should be doing or what needs to be done. I really needed a break from the studio. I seemed to be going in circles before I left. Hopefully now I can refocus and get back to work.

Fort Macon

Being on  top of a mountain looking down at the valleys or standing on the shore, hearing the waves roll in and the sea gulls calling, always helps me clear my mind. It is a time to slow down and reflect and re-energizing my spirit.

I also got to spend some time with my grand-dog Jack. He is a real sweety!

Sorry this photo is a little fuzzy but it shows him sleeping in his "cat" bed which he is too big for! One time he visited my house and adopted the little bed for his own. I had to buy Sadie a new bed and let Jack take this one home with him.

This girl will let you pet her and she makes the greatest chirping sounds!

My daughter and son-in-law keep chickens which I got to feed; and I gathered a couple of eggs. I haven't done that since I was a little girl when my mother kept chickens. Pog and I want to build a chicken coop and have some of our own.

I’ll show you the photos in the next post of great antique stores and quilt shops we visited!
Of course I had to come home with some fabric and other goodies!

Hope you are having a great start to your week!
