Brrrrr!

We did not get the predicted 5 inches
but we did get around an inch with snow and leaves blowing
most of the day yesterday.
It's 29 degrees this morn with a very cold wind!
This is a big change from being in the 60's and 70's just a few days ago!

Mount Celo

Mount Mitchell
This is the view this morn from our house.
Looks like a good day to work in the studio with a cup of hot cocoa.

I don't think Sadie wants to stay in the studio with me.
She is lying by the wood stove!
First she bakes one side then the other.
She is a smart kitty!
I may have to work a while and then join her!

Carolina Snow

Our first true snow came this week with cold temps but
we did not get the icing over so many others in the south got.

My daughter lives in the “flat” eastern part of NC.
They got ice and then about three inches of snow.
It is very unusual for them to get that much snow and for it to stay around a couple of days.
I don’t mind the snow but could do without the below zero temps.
I am sure everyone is going to have a serious case of spring fever this year!

I spent my “snow day” in the studio weaving purple rugs and slowly stitching on wings.

Hope you spent this terrible weather week warm and somewhere safe.
A few of us lucky souls spent our days keeping the home fires going, soup on the stove, weaving/stitching and in a cozy nest.

On this last day of January 2014 time is moving on
and even though it doesn’t seem like it now, warmer weather is on its way.

The Days After Christmas

The best time of the season is between Christmas and New Years.
For me it is finally time to be quiet and content at home by the fire.

Christmas is very different now with my parents gone and most of the family in different states.

Pog and I had a nice day with his oldest daughter who came for the afternoon. We made pizza and had Pog’s chocolate silk pie. My son had the flu and couldn’t come so I will spend New Year’s Day with him.

The mountain is frosted over this morn and the wind is fierce. It is a good day to stay by the fire quilting or working on my new jigsaw puzzle.

Pog made cinnamon rolls yesterday so a cup of coffee and a roll is in order for my afternoon snack!

I hope you are warm and cozy where ever you are today!
